There is a point of view that the Hebrew word "ashishut" , which is translated as "raisin cakes", does not have any roots from grapes, and this is ordinary hashish.

If anything, the hashish version seems more plausible in the context of Song of Songs. Also, what was mentioned by the prophet Hosea may indicate the intoxicating property of "ashishah", which attracted the Israelites to a cult alien to them.
