And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. (Matthew 24:30)
In fact, here we are not shown something unusual. In Greek, the word "cloud" is synonymous with the word "crowd":
Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses <...> (Hebrews 12:1)
The picture of His Second Coming described by Jesus Christ is the solemn act of entering the elect through the Eastern Gate to the Temple, built in accordance with the prophecy of Ezekiel.
Of course, you might want something unusual, but in reality the Second Coming of Jesus Christ will not look more fantastic than any other world festival. Therefore, many will not be able to understand what happened before their eyes. Just as Elisha missed the moment of Elijah’s rapture.

the clouds of heaven
When the New Testament speaks of heaven, as a rule, it is not the physical sky that is meant, but the "heavenly kingdom", that is, certain relationships between people, where righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Ghost are the basis. Therefore, people entering the Eastern Gate will be not just "clouds", not just "crowds", but "clouds of heaven", the righteous, filled with the Holy Spirit.
