He measured then the gate from the roof of [one] little chamber to the roof of another: the breadth [was] five and twenty cubits, door against door. (Ezekiel 40:13)
He measured from roof to roof, not door to door, and therefore we know that guardrooms have separate roofs. Why do we need separate roofs, why can't there be one common roof, why can't we use one common roof, which is above the entire hall in which these guard rooms are located on the sides?
I assume that separate roofs are needed for this reason:
This [is] the law, when a man dieth in a tent: all that come into the tent, and all that [is] in the tent, shall be unclean seven days. (Numbers 19:14)
Security can be armed, and among visitors at the very beginning there can be quite a lot of crazy people. Another cause of death may be a sudden attack of some disease, especially given the number of homosexuals in present-day Israel. If they decide that they can go to the Temple without repentance, then most likely they will die there.
